Music at CPC
A variety of music is central to CPC's worship experience. The sanctuary houses a pipe organ and brand new Yamaha grand piano. Taylor Baldwin provides service music on both piano and organ and directs the Chancel Choir, which regularly provides the anthem. The congregation uses the blue Presbyterian Hymnal each week.
Chancel Choir
Under the direction of Taylor Baldwin, the Chancel Choir provides its music ministry each Sunday as it leads the congregation in song and provides the anthem. Members of the Chancel Choir range from high school youth to "seasoned" church members and worship-goers. This group also performs an annual Service of Lessons and Carols, most often with orchestra - a very special Advent service enjoyed by many from around the New River Valley.
Rehearsals are held in the sanctuary on Wednesday evenings from 7:15-8:30.
Chancel Ringers
Under the direction of Taylor Baldwin, the Chancel Ringers is a handbell choir that provides special music periodically throughout the year. The youngest members of the Chancel Ringers are typically high school youth.
Rehearsals are held in the Choir Room (room 103) on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:15.
Youth Music Opportunities
Angie Hagwood, Youth Music Director, offers group music making for children of all ages on Wednesday evenings from 5:00-6:15 in the Choir Room. Join us weekly as we explore a variety of instruments, singing, dancing, and Bible Stories.
